Bathing Your English Bulldog

When bathing your English Bulldog it should be kept to a minimun, no more than every 2 weeks is needed, as it can dry out thier skin & strip away your English Bulldogs coat of it's natural oils. If you brush your English Bulldog on a regular basis, then you will not need to bathe your English Bulldog as often, as brushing removes dirt & debris from your English Bulldogs coat.

Before you bathe your English Bulldog, gently place cotton balls in both ears to prevent water from getting into the ear canals. When wetting your English Bulldogs coat make sure not to get water in your English Bulldogs face.Use a hypoallergenic, soap-free cleanser to bathe your English Bulldog & make sure to get all the wrinkles, in between the pads of thier feet, thier belly, legs, & the genital areas of your English Bulldog.  Use a clean wet wash cloth to clean your English Bulldogs face do not use soap or shampoo on the face. Gently wipe around the Bulldog's eyes, nose, ears and make sure to get all the wrinkles, rub the wash cloth in & out of the wrinkles. When done bathing your English Bulldog make sure to rinse your English Bulldog completely so that no soap residue is left behind to irritate your English Bulldogs skin. When your ready to towel dry, don't forget to remove the cotton balls from your English Bulldogs ears. Make sure to dry all or your English Bulldogs wrinkles completely using a clean, dry, lint free cloth to help prevent bacteria from getting trapped.
You should clean your English Bulldogs wrinkles every week uisng a cleansing wipe, dry the same as you would after bathing.

How to clip your English Bulldog's nails
1) Secure your English Bulldog in a position where he/she will not struggle during the nail trimming process.
2) Use only dog nail clippers, human nail clippers were not designed to clip a dogs nails.
3) Look very closely at your English Bulldogs nails to see where it needs to be clipped, you do not want to cut through the quick. The quick is the dogs end portion of his/her vein, it is pink in appearance. Cut the nail past the quick, in English Bulldogs with llighter colored nails the quick is easily spotted. If the nails are black the quick is indicated by the indentation on the underside of the nail. If you cannot determine where the quick is trim with caution by making smaller cuts and advance carefully to avoid cutting through the quick.
3) If you do cut through the quick of your English Bulldogs nails it will likely bleed excessively, apply pressure to help stop the blood flow. There are products sold in pet stores to immediately stop the blood. If a nail is bleeding & you do not have these products then you can use cornstarch. Apply a pinch of cornstarch to the nail & keep it on your English Bulldogs nail for 10 to 15 minutes. It should stop the bleeding within a few seconds.
